Take a trip to Shanghai in the heart of Melbourne’s Chapel Street at the city’s hottest new drinking den, Zhou Zhou. The latest venture for David Zhou, owner of David’s Restaurant and Chapel Street institution the Oriental Teahouse, Zhou Zhou channels the ‘The Bund’ Shanghai circa 1930s, with a fabulous interior scheme designed by Hecker Guthrie.
Just head upstairs from Oriental Teahouse to access this stylish new bar and lounge, which evokes a sense of old China Town with neon lights, Chinese posters and an industrial, vintage take on oriental styling.
Drinks connoisseurs will dig the offerings, with Zhou Zhou boasting an extraordinary selection of Asian beers and a lager & craft beer list of over 50 brands, as well as a concise wine list and well considered cocktail menu that ditches the Vodka for Sake and puts a twist on the classics.
And the delectable bites can be perfectly matched too your chosen tipple, with a food menu that takes the best of what Oriental Teahouse has to offer and mixes it up with some new added favourites such as hand wrapped duck wontons and a selection of delicious dim sum.
Zhou Zhou’s got that cool vibe Melbourne does so well, with the kind of interior design edge we gravitate towards – classic oriental with an urban twist. Put it together and you have yourself a place to be and be seen!
