Argentinian and Australian couple, Victoria Aguiree and Carlyon Wilson, have combined their two cultures, a mutual love of photography and the traditional textiles of native South American communities to bring a collection of exquisite natural hand spun woven art rugs to Australian shores. They have called it Pampa, and it has a soul of its own, and stories to tell.
Made from sheep and llama wool by artisans in rural areas, with the artistic and traditional techniques and a deep rooted humility imbued in every piece, the Pampa rugs are a true labour of love. These two passionate adventurers are on a mission to give new life back to traditions that are at risk of fading away, and to support the native communities and skills that have been passed from generation to generation.
We love how Victoria and Carlyon use their own significant skills as photographers to capture the stories of the artisans and the beating heart of the land. There is an obvious affection and respect given to both the culture and the livelihood of these communities, and a firm focus on the handmade and fair trade. And the rugs … they are, quite simply, beautiful.
