Well it took us a few days but we’ve finally come down off the high that was the Life Instyle boutique trade show! The annual retail round up took place at Hordern Pavilion in Sydney last week, and Design Pilgrim was on the floor to hunt down the coolest new designs and products emerging in stores and online. Here’s just some of our favourite finds from the show ….
A giant wooden dome housed Telegram Paper Goods (above), who offered up a visual feast of gorgeous curated collections of functional and stylish designer stationary and items from Moleskine, Rhodia, Clairefontaine, O-Check Design Graphics, Palomino, Rifle Paper Co. and Delfonics amongst many others.
A cascade of colourful pom poms have become the signature display for the always delightful, ever quirky Down to the Woods (above). We made friends with their giant golden bunnies … so cute (and so glam!).
A stand out attraction for us at Life Instyle was the ever gorgeous Jai Vasicek and his latest collection for his Ahoy Trader stash (above and below). Alongside those hand painted crosses and wall tiles that he does so well, he debuted a fabulous new range of throw rugs featuring his art, printed on hemp and hand stitched onto the softest of jersey lining. He also has some amazing new cushions that we, quite simply, have to have. Jai’s calling it – that papaya print is amazing! Love love love!
The Dharma Door (below) never fails to impress with their beautiful collections of ethical homewares. Their latest addition of the woven macrame-style wall hangings and natural jute bags hand dyed in a divine indigo really caught our attention. Congratulations to the gorgeous Shannon Sheedy and her team for taking out the best in show award in the Ethical category at the inaugural Gift and Life Instyle Awards (GALA) – well deserved guys!
The hand crafted goods by Peregian Beach-based The Design Farm (below) gave a great nod to our local Queensland design talent! We were hot for their geometric-inspired timber vessels, super soaked neon acrylic bowls and the quirky silhouetted creature and character storybooks. Definitely keeping an eye on these guys … more to come!
Seletti (image above and below) brought some designer style with their homewares aimed firmly at the left of centre. We really loved their tongue in cheek, humorous spin on classical designs, like the Hybrid porcelain plates and dishes and neon art signs.
The exquisite Coco pendant (image above) at Marmoset Found.
We hearted their metallic storage bags a long time back, but it’s the purses, handbags and carry bags in their signature washable paper that were the star attraction at Uashmama (above) – and that mood board of metallics gets us every time.
Chunky neon resin and rope jewellery, stitched bangles and homes wares from Keep Resin (above). Need it all, now!
Gorgeous cushions from Lumiere Art & Co. were on show at Greenhouse Interiors (images above). And don’t get us started on those amazing wire tables from Space to Create and the divine ceramics by Mornington Peninsula artist Karen Morton for her Kaz collection … favourite new finds!
Oh, Bonnie and Neil! Could you get any more gorgeous? Showing their latest South Pacific collection, it was a sea of bold colour and clashing prints …. and some seriously covetable cushions (above). We cannot get enough of you ….
Loved the wire pendants and on-trend polka dot bedding at Milk & Sugar (above).
Jillian Middleton from Gia Collectione lit up the show floor with her gorgeous collection of modern exotic lighting designs (above), with twisted wire, shell, beading and brightly coloured woven pendants.
Super hot bedding and textiles at Aura by Tracey Ellis (above).
Pony Rider (above) offered up another round of lust worthy textiles, bedding, visions and prints with their signature love of pattern and humour. Their Aztec Highway collection is inspired but he grit and bustle of New York streets, with pale greasy and bold ochres.
And it was all about Island Casa at Ourlieu, with coconuts and pineapples and a good dose of geometric prints thrown into the mix (below). Major cushion crush!
