British born Sydney based textile designer Joanna Fowles likes to experiment with dye, shibori, print and digital techniques to create stunning fabrics and a gorgeous range of scarves that are garnering her a lot of attention on the local textiles scene.
Each item uses the softest of cottons and silk chiffons, all dyed by hand and printed in the studio by Joanna herself and then beautifully sewn into product by a local maker. Wherever possible fabrics, dyes and printing inks are ethically and sustainably sourced. They’re just really beautiful, unique wearable works of art.
Taking her skills as a teacher of advanced textile techniques at the University of Technology Sydney to a greater public audience, Joanna has taught print and dye techniques for Megan Morton’s The School in Sydney and Harvest Textiles in melbourne, where she had a residency.
The scarf collection is currently available on the Joanna Fowles online shop and will soon be available to purchase through a few select boutiques in Sydney and Melbourne.
