With a retro appreciation and a forward thinking view to contemporary design, GUBI is on a modern day treasure hunt for classic and future design icons.
Jacob and Sebastian Gubi are men on a mission. Having taken over the helm of their parents Gubi and Lisbeth Olsen’s Copenhagen-based furniture and textile company in 2001 (along with a legacy spanning over 30 years), they have succeeded in transforming GUBI into the contemporary, cutting-edge brand that it is today. They’ve lovingly hunted down, uncovered and re-launched some of the very finest of furniture and lighting designs from the 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s, giving new life to forgotten classics some of which were originally created by artists, sculptors, designers and architects from France, Italy, England, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Hungary, Germany, Japan and elsewhere. Each and every single piece in the GUBI collection has a story to tell, capturing defining moments in design history.
They’ve also gathered together a stunning array of modern designers to their books who share a provoking attitude to style, with original ideas and exciting and innovative designs that are highly covetable and simple perfection in their aesthetic.
We love simple shapes and almost architectural elements of these pieces. Very retro, and yet perfectly adapted to current style.
