We love fine art merging with graphic design. The two just go together with such perfect harmony. It’s a mix up that Sherry Anderson and Steve Chapman from Fenton obviously agree with – the two UK based design hunters scour the local graduate fine art shows looking for fantastic new talent to inspire their fabric designs for their exciting new brand.
Current collaborations are with two artists, Charles Robinson and Haroun Haward, and with several more waiting in the wings the Fenton story really has only just begun.
“Our idea is to create other routes for art into the home by producing designs that use elements or themes found within the original artwork. It’s the story behind the fabric or cushion that leads the consumer back to the artist and their work.”
Working from high res scans of the huge original art works, Fenton creates its eclectic surface patterns by digitally manipulating, recreating and reinterpreting sections of the original piece. Digital printing onto fine cotton satin and non-woven paper enables Fenton to reproduce its intricate designs the best represent the original artwork.
LOVING the contemporary take on floral designs in the HIGHLY STRUNG collection – so pretty yet striking. But it’s the EVOLUTION range of cushions that play up to our personal affair with graphic print – dramatic, bold with a hint of the exotic.
After a successful launch at Tent London in September, Fenton is ready to serve you up the delicious fabrics and wallpapers through their online store.
