Step inside the anonymous black door of the curiously named Evans and Peel Detective Agency on Earls Court Road, London, and you will discover a very cool experience that lets you live out all your old world-glamour and mystery fantasies.
Designed as a genuine speakeasy-style bar, there’s a level of exclusivity here that comes not through rank or style but through sheer imaginative effort. To gain access to the bar, you first have to ring the buzzer on the nondescript street front door and announce to the voice on the other end that you have an appointment with the detective. You’ll need to do your sit down interview with them inside and role play your way through a mini-consultation before you are shown the secret bookcase passage into the dimly-lit bar.
The speakeasy-theme comes to life, as vintage light fittings, salvaged furniture and 1920s jazz transport you back to a nostalgic era. Snack at the bar over a cocktail or a glass of wine or Champagne (served from a bottle wrapped in a brown paper bag, no less!), or enjoy an American influenced meal in the restaurant.
You’re in for a totally unique, slightly quirky, unashamedly hip night out!
