The latest Daft Punk album has been a long time coming – eight years in fact. They’ve been working on it since 2008, something die hard fans (of which we are counted!) have embraced with a fervour and insatiable appetite, making Random Access Memories well on the way to becoming one of the fastest selling albums of 2013 so far. The May 21st release was preceded by hype and the inevitable internet leaks, but the wait was worth it. The fourth studio album from Daft Punk really shows how they have matured and grown. The playfulness of their sound is still there, but they’ve taken a little departure from the riff heavy production techniques to get their boogy on … RAM hits the dance floor with a decidedly disco swagger, with some soft rock and prog pop thrown in to keep that old Daft Punk mix up just right.
We’re loving these slick black and white photos, taken in the lead up to the release of Random Access Memories. The elusive French dj duo – otherwise known as Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter when they have those helmets off – recently hooked up with photographer Mathieu César in a home designed by American modernist architect John Lautner for the photos that accompany their interview with Sky Ferreira for CR Fashion Book (read more of that right here).
