The grand Château de Varennes has belonged to the same aristocratic family for 400 years. And now, with one seriously stylish member of the family behind its transformation into a luxury boutique hotel, it is a stunning example of French classicism with a most modern and contemporary reinterpretation.
Aymeric de Truchis de Varennes and his wife Sonia inherited the Château de Varennes in 2009 and went on to remodel and refurbish the property with the help of celebrity designer Fabrice Bejjani. Built in the 18th century, it is located in the South Eastern part of France amidst the finest vineyards of Beaune in Burgundy and is undoubtedly the area’s most luxurious chateaus. And with the bones already in place, the new life that has been injected into each suite is truly stunning.
We love the way the designers have mixed nostalgic grandeur with modern statement design. There’s a real sense of masculine and feminine at play here, combining all the historic charm of traditional chateaus with that very French style that we so adore … effortlessly chic and fashion forward with a nod to elegance and romance.
Chateau de Varennes was named by CNN among the top ten best wedding venues worldwide, and we can certainly see why! It’s got that fairytale setting of every little girl’s wedding dreams, for sure. But for design lovers like us, it’s a fairytale for other reasons entirely. Dream holiday destination, dream style, dream home … très chic!
