If you’re kicking around Seminyak in Bali and want to try a place that the locals are loving, take the path to hot new destination Charlie. This cool little bistro and bar has just won ‘Yak Best Bar of the Year‘ in Bali – which, if you know anything about the Bali bar scene, is quite an accolade.
Situated in the über fashionable precinct of Jalan Petitenget, Bali, Charlie runs as a relaxed bistro during the day and becomes a European styled restaurant by afternoon, with a cosmopolitan dinner menu created by Executive Chef Jakartan, Meidy Zuhri who brings his impeccable French technique and hotel training from the some the most notable restaurants in Dubai. Meidy was fortunate to cook alongside the top Chefs like Chef Alain Passard (Michelin star 3, la Arpege Paris) and Chef Philippe Labbe (Michelin star 2, Shangri- la Paris ). So you know the food served up at Charlie is going to be senational!
On weekends, Charlie morphs into a Euro lounge dance scene at night, and the drinks are suitably fashion forward – the mixologists will even hand carve the ice using a Japanese ice saw from a huge frozen crystal cube that serves as the bar’s centrepiece, fresh for your tipple or cocktails. House made rose petal infused spirits are a specialty, along with cocktail classics with beautifully executed renditions of traditional cocktails such as Martinis, Sours and Old Fashioned with a signature Charlie touch.
Charlie’s elegant owner, Julia Saunina says;
“Charlie is more than just a bar or a restaurant, it’s a lifestyle venue that could be anywhere -London, New York or even Moscow. It is the place to be if you want to mingle with Bali’s interesting personalities, as well as the in-the-know visitors from all over the world. The feeling is of a member’s club, but without the membership.”
And that’s a club we definitely want to be a part of next time we’re in Bali!
